My 2019 science fiction horror novel Xeno is long overdue a sequel. It's especially ripe for sequels because, as mentioned in its prologue, the first Xeno starship was followed into space by Xeno II and Xeno III. It only seems right that those ships should fall prey to nightmarish extraterrestrial horror too. I mean, why should they get an easy ride, right?
It's no secret that Xeno was originally inspired by the Alien movie franchise, and especially Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien (which you can read about in this post). Next month sees the release of Alien: Romulus, a film I haven't been this excited about since... well, the release of the last Alien movie, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. I'm hoping this new film by Fede Álvarez won't be a repeat of that. In case you hadn't guessed it, I'm a huge fan of the Alien films.
Alien: Romulus will undoubtedly serve as extra impetus as I'm in the process of writing Xeno II. I'm hoping the new book will be released in a matter of months, and hopefully before the end of the year.
